A Tiny Tornado meets a 12 Gauge!
Hey there Dojo readers,
You may remember all the support that many throughout the martial arts community have given to my friend Frank (if not, check it out HERE and HERE!). Frank is fighting his second bout with testicular cancer–and doing a great job keeping up the fight!
Some of the strongest support he’s received has been from the Invicta FC organization and their promoter, Shannon Knapp. Invicta, for those who don’t follow MMA, is an all-women’s promotion and has put on some incredible shows this past year! As a fan of Women’s MMA (or WMMA for short), I’ve loved seeing the success Knapp and the ladies on her roster have been having as the sport grows.
A number of Invicta fighters have been supportive of #FranksFight as well. One of them, who I’ve had the privilege of connecting with via her Facebook page, is Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres. Tecia was named one of the top 20 WMMA athletes of 2012 and is a rising star with championship potential. When I asked Tecia if she’d be interested in doing a Dojo charity portrait she readily agreed!
I got to work immediately…
…and finished it last week:
The portrait has received a ton of “likes” over on my Art of the Dojo Facebook page and Tecia herself said she really liked it (which is always the opinion that matters most to a portrait artist!).
You can bid on this ORIGINAL portrait by yours truly of “The Tiny Tornado” and the proceeds will be split 50/50 to help fund Disciple Dojo and #FranksFight against cancer!
Also, the winning bidder of the portrait will also receive an autographed 8×10 photo and autographed walkout shirt from Tecia herself!

I also asked Tecia’s upcoming opponent, Paige “12 Gauge” Vanzant, if she would like to do a charity portrait to support Disciple Dojo as well as International Justice Mission. She enthusiastically agreed! So as soon as I finished Tecia’s above I got to work on Paige’s
