Wanna buy some MMA art and help Japan??
If you’re a recent MMA fan, you may not know who he is…which is a shame!
Genki is not only one of the best Japanese fighters of all time, he’s also by FAR the most entertaining!
Don’t believe me?? See for yourself…
Genki is also one of the most humble and soft-spoken fighters who ever competed. In fact, it’s hard to find ANYONE, including opponents, who can say anything bad about the guy!
Genki retired from fighting at a few years ago in order to pursue his education. But the mark he left on Japanese MMA and professional martial arts in general has never been forgotten by true fans of the sport.
Many of you know I do artwork to help support Disciple Dojo, including expressionistic portraits of famous fighters such as Renzo Gracie, Bas Rutten, Felice Herrig, Gina Carano, Anderson Silva, Randy Couture, Fedor Emelianenko and Jon Jones among others.
In honor of Genki Sudo, my latest portrait is an homage to this humble Japanese fighter…
(“Genki” – 8.5″ x 11″ Prismacolor on paper)
In light of the tragic events surrounding the tsunami and the massive damage it did to Genki’s homeland, I wanted to offer this original piece for sale and donate half of the proceeds to Japan relief efforts and the other half to Disciple Dojo. I would also like to offer color prints of the piece for $20, again, with half of the proceeds going to tsunami relief.
Here is the listing to bid on the original: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120732882905
Those wishing to buy color prints of the piece can do so via the order form at the bottom of my artwork page. Again, half of all proceeds will go toward Japanese tsunami relief.
I would also appreciate any help Dojo readers can me give in getting the word out this week…so Tweet, Retweet, Like, share on Facebook, Stumbleupon, your own blog or send it to people via email (particularly MMA organizations, fighters, promoters or other martial artists you may have contact with!)
Lastly, continue to pray for the people of Japan. Pray that the Church (which comprises a TINY minority among the population) will serve to demonstrate the love of a caring compassionate God who weeps for the suffering that nation has endured, as my friend Kurt Willems puts it.
Oh, and here’s one final thought from Genki…
Blessings from the Dojo,
JM
