Why the Kentucky magistrate is not a hero or martyr

Why the Kentucky magistrate is not a hero or martyr

“Jesus said the His followers were to “Do unto others what you would have them do unto you.” Therefore, Christians should treat non-Christians with whom they often strongly disagree in the same way we ourselves would like to be treated. I would not want to be denied a secular license or permit because I held different beliefs from the magistrate issuing it to me. Therefore, I cannot support a magistrate denying a secular license or permit to someone whose beliefs they themselves do not agree with or condone–even if I agree with them.”

A respectful Methodist dialogue on Christian LGBT ethics (Part 1)

Gay Marriage vs. Religious Freedom: A proposed solution (part 3)

“Of course it would not satisfy those on both sides who seek full capitulation of everyone else to their way of thinking. Such individuals would continue to demonize those with whom they disagree as either “bigots” or “perverts” (or any number of similar slurs often found in current rhetoric).”

How might the government find a way to prevent any cultural or identity group from obtaining unfair legal power over another group? This is important because terms like “tolerance” […]

“we decided that it would be good if we were able to put forth a solution to this debate–to introduce something people can be FOR rather than simpy what they are AGAINST.”

An atheist’s reason for being pro-life

An atheist’s reason for being pro-life

Hey Dojo readers, Many people mistakenly  believe that abortion is a “religious” issue. That there is a “war on women” (news flash: there is not) and it is being waged by “religious fundamentalists” who seek to impose their theocratic views on all the wombs in America. Of course anyone who’s educated on the topic knows […]

A black Christian’s experience and reflections on racial tensions

A black Christian’s experience and reflections on racial tensions

Hi Dojo readers, In response to the Examiner post I wrote at the end of last year (Ferguson, justice and a suggestion for white Christians), I invited a number of my African-American friends to share their honest thoughts as to what they most wanted their white brothers and sisters to hear and to consider. One of […]
