Getting a handle on the Old Testament

Hi Dojo readers,

Last month I had the pleasure of doing a seminar with my friend, India-traveling-companion, and Discipleship successor at Good Shepherd Church, Chris Thayer, entitled “Once Upon A Time: The Grand Narrative of Scripture”

It was a 2 week series of talks which provided an overview of the Old Testament, the Intertestamental period, and the New Testament (as well as some live Q&A at the end of week 2).

I will be posting the bulk of the seminar here in the Dojo for those who couldn’t make it (as well as a link to the full-length videos on Good Shepherd’s site once they are up).

If you’ve ever been puzzled, intimidated, bored, or turned-off by reading the Old Testament THIS IS FOR YOU!!!

I’ll be uploading the rest of the clips this week, so stay tuned and if you like the videos, please share them with others so that the ministry of Disciple Dojo can spread far and wide!

Blessings from the Dojo,
JM

  2. I’m curious about this lecture on washing dishes in Leviticus…

  3. It was a sermon that Dr. Doug Stuart gave at Park Street Church in Boston back when I was in seminary at GCTS (’02 I think). It was about holiness and the concept of holiness both in Torah and in the life of believers today. I don’t know if there’s a link to it online anywhere, but I’ll dig around and see if I can find it. It was so good because it took a seemingly-mundane and obscure passage from a rarely-preached-from book in the Bible and showed how it gave an integral picture of what it means to be a holy person/people.
