Abram’s “samurai” raid & Melchizedek (Gen. 14 video study)

Hi Dojo readers,

Here’s the video from Tuesday’s lunchtime Bible Study at Ruth’s Chris. We’re walking through the book of Genesis and this week’s passage was Gen. 14. Did you know Abram wasn’t simply a meek, octogenarian shepherd as he’s often portrayed? Rather, he was a highly-influential statesman with an army of over three hundred experienced trained fighters who were able to route an entire international coalition of ancient Near East kings’ armies!

Oh, and who is this Melchizedek figure we occasionally hear about elsewhere in Scripture?

Find out in this week’s lunch study below! And don’t forget to hit the “subscribe” button on the Youtube page so that we can continue the online influence of Disciple Dojo’s Bible studies for those who can’t be there in person!

One Response

  1. The clarity of historical and cultural context is always a tremendous blessing when I’ taught by you. Now you know that Abraham’s retainers is fascinating to you and me! I’ve always wondered how they were trained, and if God gave them some kind of “Hebrew Martial art?” Do you know?

Also, I was very encouraged by Abraham being true to the promises given to him, and thus being true to his identity and destiny. It makes me want to do the same in the context of our universal identities and destinies, and with my individual destiny from God.

Thank you for using your gifts my brother.

    Your fellow Samurai of Christ,
